Now because I was in Italy for one week, there is a lot to share! I think it will be easiest if I do a post for each day. I took over 400 photos, so it is going to take me a while to sort through and edit all of them. In the mean time I will give you a taste of what's to come: pictures of the food! (Did anyone catch that pun?)
This was my first pizza in Italy. Yum! It had roasted veggies on top and did not fail to disappoint.
This was my first Fettuccine Alfredo. Oh my deliciousness.
Caesar Salad! Which isn't as popular in Italy as you would think it is. However this one in particular was delicious and welcome after many pasta meals.
Pasta with a meat sauce! So delicious. Much to my surprise (I attribute this to living in America), spaghetti and meatballs is not common in Italy. In fact when one of my friends asked for it in a restaurant, the waitress replied, "no, that's weird."
Tortellini with ham in a cream sauce. Although I am not a huge fan of tortellini, this was absolute delicious and would gladly eat some more. Before this I had minestrone soup, but I devoured it before I remembered to get a picture (oops!).
First Gelato in Italy! A selfie was 100% necessary.
Another Italian Pizza! This one was better than the first in my opinion.
First Italian wine! Many restaurants in Italy only sell wine by the bottle, and because Italian wine is delicious, it is also expensive. However, the waiter (a little old Italian man) was so nice and loved us enthusiastic Americans. He gave us a huge discount on the wine and man oh man it did not disappoint.
Now this one might have been my favorite dish. This is Cannelloni, which is filled with meat and covered in a delicious sauce and cheese. I almost got a second dish of it because it was that good. However I settled for a cone of Gelato instead.
Cheesecake covered in mixed berries. Yum!
Ahhh Pasta E Fagioli. My Mum makes this all the time at home and I had to try it. However I must say I preferred my Mum's!
Penne with cream, chicken, and broccoli. So. Good.
Now I also had Cannoli's but unfortunately the photo is not uploading. If it magically works, I will be sure to add it to this post! (They were also delicious for the record).
It would not be a stretch to say this trip revolved around food. If you frequent olive garden, trust me when I say that is nothing compared to the real deal. Needless to say, I probably gained 15 pounds after this trip but it was well worth it. Yummo!
Stay tuned for pictures and details about my trips to Rome, Pisa, and Florence!
WOW, Awesome photos! Now I'm hungry!!
